A Class-E-Based Resonant AC-DC Converter With Inherent PFC Capability

This paper investigates the use of class-E inverter for power factor correction (PFC) applications. Analytical and state-space models are derived showing inverter's capability achieving inherent PFC operation with a constant duty cycle. The limits controller responsibility to regulation output voltage, which is key resonant converters challenging control. A converter incorporating diode bridge, inverter, class-D rectifier presented stage in single-phase offline converters. prototype designed validate analysis design method. operates zero-voltage switching (ZVS) across load range achieves up 211 W at an efficiency 88%, 0.99 total harmonic distortion (THD) 8.8 %.
